Function
The microcontroller monitors the supply voltage, controls the motor and manages the digital and analogue inputs and outputs of the Robotino.
Assembly and connection
As is also the case with the embedded PC, the microcontroller is mounted directly on the main PCB in the control unit of the Robotino. It’s connected to the I/O interface, all motors and incremental encoders, and the embedded PC. An FPGA is also used.
Technical documentation
The microcontroller used in the Robotino is a 32-bit LPC2378 supplied by NXP.
The FPGA module is an XC3S50A supplied by Xilinx.
